A rare treat.

Eucryphia moorei is a one of our favourite species. It was logged heavily in the past and now exists only in isolated pockets. Time to do your bit and help restore its range.

Producing beautiful flowers, interesting foliage and perhaps some gorgeous timber down the line.. long after it has had a chance to produce many new offspring.

Not commonly found for sale, we collected these seeds from our farm site in Wattamolla, at the Eastern end of Kangaroo Valley, NSW.

For growing suggestions refer to Growing Illawarra Natives great little guide here. Standard planting methods apply and water availability should be monitored. In the wild we find Eucryphia traditionally grows along creek lines in dense rainforest.

We have not been growing this species for long and have successes and failures with examples planted out. There have been no losses in specimens planted with a bit of ongoing care and stewardship during establishment - mostly keeping an eye out for water stress, lack of light. We have 1-2 year old specimens now 2m growing well in both sheltered backyard locations and as young paddock trees with basically full sun. With heavier shade they are still much smaller at this age in the ground. The few that have not survived had not been monitored post planting and were planted in a bush regen context.

Size Information:

Most of our plants, including this species, is grown in so called Mega Tubes - 90*90*150mm square pots with root training internal features and an open air pruning base. The soil volume is approximately 750ml.

For indicative size of plant refer to the pictures as a sample. Your specific plant may be different but a roughly similar size.
