TMPR03 - 58.2mm Brass+Red Ash (Alphitonia excelsa)

Espresso and native species collide.

This tamper combines a precision machined brass base with a unique timber handle - turned by hand in our Leichhardt studio. This is heirloom quality goodness. Something to give the grandkids

The tree that produced this timber is an interesting rainforest margins species. Red Ash has wild variation from bright yellow to a deeper red/orange. The material for this piece came from a low branch, carefully pruned off to improve the structure of the tree.

Originally the species was known as Cooper's Wood, reflecting its use in the making of a critical early product, barrels for beer.
