TMPR01 is a stunning espresso tamper, finished to an heirloom quality.
It combines a custom precision machined H62 Brass base with a unique timber handle turned by hand in our Leichhardt workshop.
The tamper base is 58.2mm diameter and weighs 312g.
All the timber we use in our products is sourced sustainably by hand from farms that we are revegetating and planting out with trees.
This is made from a pruned branch of Red Ash (Alphitonia excelsa). In the ye olde days this species was known as Coopers Wood, with the timber used for the making of beer barrels. The timber is dense and full of character. The timber is finished in an organic Danish Oil mixture.
Unlike some harder metals this brass tamper will form a beautiful patina from wear and use over time, and we think it'll be something to give the grandkids, after 10000 coffees have been made.
We include a small bottle of our oil mix in the package, and encourage you to apply more to the tamper over time. Avoid soaking in water and wipe it dry if it it gets wet.
Our tampers share a common sizing system for the connection between the brass base and timber handle, so if you ever want to change one over please get in touch.
